The Meaning of Pwll Du

Literally translated Pwll Du or Pwlldu means Pool or Pit and Black in english. This could mean Black Pool, possibly named after the Balence Pond at Pwll Du quarry or Black Pit, possibly named after the numerous early drift mine entrances in the area.
